As always, this week was another week packed full of amazing learning! In maths, we have been learning to tell the time. Here are some photos of use playing some games to help aid our understanding...

We have loved learning about Vincent Van Gogh in Kingfisher class! We started our sunflower artwork this week after looking at Van Gogh's sunflower artwork. The first stage of our artwork was to draw a sunflower from observation. Everyone worked really hard on their drawings, taking real care and time. We also discovered an app on the iPad where we could draw sunflowers!
We had a brilliant time during our Co Joe’s day. Here we are enjoying some chill out time and a little treat! The first two weeks have flown past in Cuckoo Class and we are very proud of our DT winding mechanisms. Our narrowboats, in their locks, have been admired by lots of people and we can’t wait to take them home! The solar eclipse was quite exciting and we spent our playtime last Friday trying to see it through a colander. We actually had a really good view when the sun went behind the clouds and it was safe to take a quick look. We have continued our love of Science and RE in our new project, Creation, and spent some time planting flowers outside to brighten up our world. We are also growing runner beans in class and recording their measurements as they grow and change. They have got off to a flying start with all the sunshine and some of them are already outgrowing their bags! We have also started an extended piece of art work based around sunflowers. A morning game of Rummikubs in Fledglings. Opportunities for ordering numbers forwards and backwards, number bonds and odd and even… and it’s not even 9 o’clock! What an amazing start to the week! The children from years 1 - 6 took park in a Commando Joe's Day today. We had a very special visitor from Commando Joe's who lead sessions with each class. The children had to take on mini-missions which involved lots of teamwork, communication and endurance. As you will see from the smiles on our faces, we all had an brilliant day! Year 1 and 2 Year 3 and 4 Year 5 and 6
On Thursday Kingfishers and Cuckoos were very busy exploring the natural world. We planted beans in bags so that we can observe them grow over the next few weeks. We planted seeds, painted beautiful landscapes and natural objects, made journey sticks using natural objects that we found on the field, created chalk faces and patterns on trees and used stones to make our very own rock cairns inspired by Andy Goldsworthy! It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all.
We have really enjoyed being outside this week. There have been lots of opportunities for water play, we have thrown ourselves into it - quite literally! Despite the heat we have been building, sliding, jumping and climbing. Making the most of our wonderful outdoor space. Munesu wants to be a gymnast. David wants to be a stuntman! We are really proud of our friendships and continue to work on these everyday by showing faith, hope and love to each other.
We had our WOW day on Monday and what a day we had! We went to Spiceball Park to search for wonderful things in the world and we had so much to fun finding them! Have a look at some of our photos:
WHAT A DAY!!! Owls and Kestrels ventured off to Hill End today for their Survival day today. The sun was shining and smiles all around!
What would you do if you were stranded on a deserted island? Don't worry, we can show you the skills to help you to survive!! We learnt how to filter and purify water; hunt and forage for safe food in the wilderness; write SOS to draw attention and even make a fire to keep us warm. I bet you're thinking, where do you sleep?! Shelter, Shelter Shelter!! We built our own shelters, some were even waterproof (although others were not and we got a little wet!! 😂). We even had time for a few class games and giggles! A fantastic day making memories and building friendships and skills. A day we will truly cherish! |
