It has been a busy half term break for members of Bluebirds class and the Bodicote bears!
George has been busy baking the treacle tart from Cookery Corner and making me feel quite hungry! Someone else is hiding behind a beautiful butterfly mask, can you work out who? Meanwhile, the bears tried a healthy eating week with mixed success- the marmalade jar was still empty by Friday! Then they just enjoyed the wonderful weather.

Summer and William perform our poem of the week 'Falling Apples'. I think you'll agree it is apple-solutely amazing! Brilliant Bobby performs our poem 'Cup of Tea'. There are some lovely pictures of Bluebirds working creatively with their siblings. Oliver worked really hard with his little sister to build a fabulous castle out of recyclable materials. Celine, Line, Faith and her little sister were busy preparing for the VE Day celebrations and Faith even found time to practise her ballet steps!
Paddington, Aunt Lucy and Aunt Lucy’s friend had a very busy time last week. They led the village singing, from their window of course, and waved their flags with great enthusiasm. They are resting this week and have not even bothered to take off their pyjamas yet! They will have to be more active next week.
As always, it has been lovely receiving all your videos and photos from things you have been doing at home. Please continue to send them to us! Here is a collection of your learning from the last week... During the phone calls, we heard that lots of you had enjoyed the English and maths this week. Here is Ava's diary entry that she was particularly proud of and maths learning from Ivy and Zach. You have all been working on your geography skills this week. Erin has identified the flags of different countries and Jacob has labelled some of the countries in Europe and used a key to identify the ones he has been to and places he wants to visit. It appears that we are going to have lots of children who could enter The Great British Bake Off! We have loved hearing about all the baking you have been doing. Alfie made some chocolate swirls and Larissza has made Kūrtős cake. Archie, Ivy, Leo and Victoria have also been brilliant bakers! We have also seen lots of amazing craft project this week. Here is Alfie decorating a beautiful pot for his nan, Archie creating his own amazing tie-dye t-shirt, Grace and Victoria have done lovely pictures and Line has made a caterpillar sock. Lots of people being active this week! Archie, Line, Maria and Ivy took on the sock challenge as we know many others of you did.

It is also great to hear that so many of you are enjoying listening to our stories. Keep checking back to the 'story time...' sections on our web pages for even more stories.
During the second World War people were encouraged to dig up their flowers and grow fruit and vegetables instead. This was because it was difficult to import food from different parts of the world because of the fighting. Aunt Lucy and her friend have been joining in with great enthusiasm.
Kingfishers, Bluebirds, and Fledglings have been really busy again this week. There is so much fantastic learning going on , we are really proud of you all. James and Abbie have been exploring slime, spaghetti and spiders, and cloud dough - which looks like great fun! They have also come up with some brilliant creative ideas - making flower people made with cupcake cases and Easter egg mosaic picture. They also made a pom pom family! James made a wonderful marble run from Duplo bricks and also found time to make a Space Rocket! Abbie made some Easter Cakes too. Rory, Erin, Leo and Orla have been really busy. Rory had a brilliant time with this STEM project. Well done Rory, we can see how much resilience and focus that took. Erin and Orla have been adding a touch of magic to their walks, cheering people up going dressed up as Princesses. Erin also wrote an amazing butterfly story. Cameron has been out on a bike ride and has enjoyed watching the adults from St Mary's read some of our favorite stories. I think you'll agree Cameron's Peter Rabbit picture is a real work of art... he's even found time to do some planting! Elsie has also been really busy, making Easter cakes, Easter cards and sock rabbits! She has written some brilliant stories and illustrated them too! Finally, we will leave you wish some stories, songs and poems. Cameron reads us 'Silly Races' and William and Summer act out Jack and the Beanstalk. Leila recites our poem of the week 'Cup of Tea' and Mea sings us a song!
Paddington is enjoying life in the countryside where it is safe from all the air raids but he has not forgotten Aunt Lucy.
Meanwhile Aunt Lucy and her friend have been cheering on the spitfire pilots who were busy in the skies overhead during the summer of 1940. The Battle of Britain lasted three months and kept Britain free from invasion. The pilots became known as ‘the few’ because there were not that many of them but the whole country owed them a great deal. It was lovely to speak to so many of you this week and to hear what you have been up to. Well done to those people who put on their wellies and danced in the rain! Paddington and Aunt Lucy got their ribbons in a tangle around the maypole but enjoyed humming along to the music. They were also out leading the clapping in their scrubs for a second week. Paddington has been making large amounts of marmalade sandwiches lately but he won’t say why… There has been lots of maths going on. Patrick has been adding up the total of his shopping and building Lego towers in different amounts of time. Caleb and Lily have been busy measuring different things and making comparisons between them . I love Caleb’s giraffe! Celine and George have both been very creative making sock puppets and salt pictures. George has also been trying out the recipes from Cookery Corner can demonstrate how to make perfect guacamole. Can you see what has been happening in Patrick’s garden? I can’t wait to see what you all get up to next week. |
