It has been an exceptionally busy week for Paddington both in and out of his window. He celebrated the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge in full Druid costume last Saturday and is currently enjoying the Glastonbury festival with Aunt Lucy and Aunt Lucy’s Friend. On Thursday it was his official birthday and he popped into the Parakeets bubble to celebrate with some new friends. It was great fun but very hot when you are so furry! Lily has been busy practising her multiplication and division skills while Isaac has baked delicious South African fried bread inspired by the story of The Little Red Hen. The children in the Pelican's bubble have been learning our poem of the week 'Chop Chop'. We have been using poems from 'The Poetry Basket' each week so that children have a bank of poems which in turn helps their vocabulary, reading and imagination. The three Bodicote Bears have had another busy week. Aunt Lucy has been very excited to see her pet llamas again and has been riding them up and down the window sill. Now the window is full of horses- what will they get up to next? They would love to see some photos of your work on Goldilocks and the Three Bears- Paddington says it is one of his favourite traditional tales.
Faith has been busy drawing bears and going for lovely walks with her family to see what she can see. Key Stage Two has had a busy few weeks - just before half term we had a week where aliens took over! My Alien Friends The past weeks have been such a surreal experience! I met some aliens! Now I will tell you how I met them. It was night when I heard something strange outside. So I went outside to see what it was, and when I opened the door I saw two aliens at my doorstep! I stumbled back in surprise. I didn't expect aliens to be at my door. After standing in my hallway in shock for a few seconds I decided to get a closer look at them. One was skinny and slimy, and the other one was short and cute.I reached out to give them a pat on the head but then they stepped back. “Don’t be scared.” I said. “I won't hurt you.” “Sweet!” Said the slimy alien. “So can we come in?” “Um...I guess so?” I said. “Thats dope!” The cute alien said jumping in the air in happiness. “Hey Jacob!” I whispered as I went up the stairs. “Hey bro wake up!” “What is it now?” He mumbled. “Can these aliens stay here?” I asked. “Aliens!? Well ok, but they're sleeping in your room.” He whispered. The next day,I woke up to find the cute alien flinging my toys everywhere. I screamed. “What are you-” “Yo yo yo my bro and good morning to you too.”It said. I ran down stairs to get a drink but when I opened the fridge the slimy alien was in there and had eaten all the food.I shouted at them both and ran out the front door.I went for a walked to the countryside and when I got there I felt bad so I went back home and when I came back they said sorry and surprised me with the best smelling pizza ever and let-me-tell -you….. THIS PIZZA WAS INSANE! It had all my favorite toppings on. Ham pineapple pepperoni all of it! They also made a cake which was delicious might I add. So yes they do get on my nerves sometimes but I’m still happy I got to know them and become friends with them…..and now I will end this story with nothing exciting whatsoever. By Eden Victoria, Zach, Ivy and Maria have been busy researching countries. Oh the places we will travel to when Lockdown is over! After half term we have been focussing on food. We imagined where food comes from based on Michael Rosen’s poem ‘Where broccoli comes from’. We also enjoyed reading your descriptive writing that has tantalised our taste buds.
Aryan’s meal... Favourite Starter: Chili Cheese Bites These delicious little bites are a hot heaven of flavour, texture and perfect crispiness that's on the brink of the afterlife. I cannot describe the first, and at the same time, final bite because it is too great to even comprehend. It will send you on a flavour journey worth a journey of its own and once it is between your teeth, you will find your favourite starter: Chili Cheese Bites. Rajma (Red Kidney Beans) - Normally served with Rice or Naan This spicy, protein-packed deliciousness rolls from the heavens above down into our bellies, well, at least my mum’s heaven. From rice to burritos, it will go down a treat with just about anything, and will most definitely dwarf the chili cheese bites from your starter and ensure your new favourite main: My Mum's Rajma with almost anything! Food descriptions by Finley Starter: Scampi bites As the scampi bites approach me my mouth starts to water. I feel the toasty warmth coming off them. As the plate lands in front of me I politely ask to start. At the very moment the signal is given I stab in with my knife and fork and shove a bite into my mouth. I crush the crunchy batter off and feel the lovingly squishy, chewy, wondrous taste of it blessing my tongue. I take in the second scampi. It is so heavenly it feels like I’m going to faint. I slump back into my chair, praising the wonders of my world. Main course: Pepperoni Pizza I walk into the kitchen. As I peer into the oven I notice the pepperoni pizza sizzling there. Mum opens the oven and I lick my licks. I dash upto the table and sit there thinking about the taste that is to come. The pizza arrives. I gently lift it and take a bite.A wondrous taste fills my mouth. I take a second bite. The tangy taste of pepperoni kisses my taste buds. I look at the remnants of my slice. The cheese is like a golden plate, shining in the sunlight. The tomato is a layer of ruby, sparkling, pleading to be eaten. I love pizza AND SO WILL YOU! Pudding: Rock cakes After my delicious main course I ask what is for pudding. “Aha!” says mum, and walks to the kitchen. When she comes out again she has a plate full of the most scrumptious things I have ever seen. Beige, with raisins in, I realise they are rock cakes! I jump for joy as she puts one on my plate. I nap it and take a mouthful. Slightly crunchy on the outside, but not much. Then the delicious soft inside filles my mouth with most wonderful taste ever known to man kind. There has been more delicious cooking - we can’t wait for a school picnic to taste your hard work. Marvellous maths There have been a number of different challenges. Hayden has been exploring timetables and roman numerals outdoors in his garden and thinking about place value. Jacob has been solving problems involving ratio. In our project work, we have been learning about where chocolate comes from and have also learnt about the importance of Fair Trade. Leo, Ivy, Lilly, Jacob and Eden have been made beautiful cards and posters to express their gratitude to farmers. Igor has also made an informative poster about Fair Trade. We have also been busy following our own interests…
