We had a busy day in Skylarks and Falcons on Thursday this week - we made delicious bread rolls from scratch! We worked hard to mix together the ingredients and knead the dough and we waited patiently for the dough to prove - twice!
After they had finished being baked in the oven, we had the opportunity to evaluate them and this included tasting them. They turned out pretty well we think!

Last week, we took part in the Mathematics World Cup and all of our teams came in the top five! Not only did we do some amazing maths, we had such a fun time together. We also had an amazing Commando Joe session where we were challenged to build our own bridge, just like Tower Bridge that Nellie Bly visited on her journey.
This week, the children in Skylarks and Falcons took part in a French day to kick start their learning this term. As you can see by the photos, we all had an amazing day learning French, cooking some French biscuits, doing some French inspired art work and learning key facts about the country.
We have been very busy in Fledglings over the past few weeks, with lots of indoor and outdoor exploring. In keeping with the season, some Fledglings have been enjoying the fallen leaves outdoors and we have had lots of different pumpkins inside to draw, paint and create stories about. Every Friday each class gets to complete a Commando Joes Mission, this is a great opportunity for children to learn to work in teams, lead and build resilience. This week's mission was to build a barricade, each class was split into two and given fifteen minutes to construct their barricade. The children had access to the OPAL equipment and were able to produce some really impressive structures.
During our worship time today, the children in year 3 and 6 came together to share stories. They were all really engaged and it was wonderful to see the smiles on their faces.
Fledglings had a visit from some members of Skylarks and Falcons last week. The Year 3 and 4 children had rewritten the story of Noah's Ark and came to share their work with Early Years. It was lovely for the older children to celebrate their fantastic writing and Fledglings really enjoyed hearing lots of different versions of the story.
We have been working hard on representing numbers on a number line. Yesterday, we looked at different intervals and tried to be accurate with our estimates.
Fledglings were very excited to meet some animals from Farmer Gow's Mobile Farm last week. There were two goats (called George and Yogi), Tina the turkey and lots of chickens and chicks. The children were able to feed the goats, stroke all the animals and learnt lots of facts from the animal handlers, Sarah and Mark. Skylarks have been learning to classify living things this week as as part of this, we did a invertebrate hunt on the school field. We used magnifying glasses and classification keys to name the animals we found and then made simple observational drawings. As well as doing amazing learning, we had the best time looking around in the mud and under rocks and logs.
